“Money doesn’t buy happiness” instant karma

So I have a friend who is very very…out of touch to say. I love the person but damn if it isn't frustrating. Anyways, his parents aren't like mine. He was able to live at home, have parents that would help him if they were in a tight spot. Encouraged college on him etc. Heck so much he worked for the church for free for an entire year full time. Well I wasn't so lucky, I had to serve to pay for school, my parents couldn't give less of a crap how I'm doing (even though they aren't financially strained at all) so as you can imagine I struggled (and still do). I would rant to this friend about my financial nightmares and worries. Literally my neighborhood was such a bad place someone was shot and killed. His response was always “money doesn't buy happiness.” And go on about how…

I would rant to this friend about my financial nightmares and worries. Literally my neighborhood was such a bad place someone was shot and killed. His response was always “money doesn't buy happiness.” And go on about how he doesn't think it matters etc, push me to never think about the financial futures. Judge me for saving for retirement. Judge me for not blowing my savings.

Well, now he's SOL for a job (after he finally realized working for free for a year is pointless) and has his own place. Now he's telling me how stressed he is about money, his nightmares and expects me to listen to his issues. The guy can't save a penny and has under 100$ in his account. All I can do is laugh, tell him “I thought money doesn't buy happiness” and ignore his ass.

Summary: rich kid finally fell on hard times after pretending money isn't essential for everyone.
