Money problems on all sides creating rift in the workplace

Anyone else have a boss that is constantly talking about how little they are making? I feel like I'm expected to carry the weight of these money issues or like he wants me to basically work for free. I don't feel like these things should be being discussed all the time, especially with your min. wage employee. I understand that times are hard for everyone, but having to work with the constant feeling (which is often spoken out loud) that my boss is trying to figure out how to pay me as little as possible just sucks. It's important to feel valued as an employee, and its sort of a catch 22, because you obviously aren't gonna want to pay people for not being great at their job, but people just aren't gonna be great at their job when they feel so weird about it. It's important to feel valued as an employee, and its sort of a catch 22, because you obviously aren't gonna want to pay people for not being great at their job, but people just aren't gonna be great at their job when they feel so weird about it.

I applied for an open position, which granted I accepted before the cost of gas and also everything skyrocketed, but now my duties are often taken over by my boss in an effort to have me work less, which just doesn't really make any sense. It feels like I'm expected to work these weird split shifts and rally around the company in however way I can work as little as possible but still always be available. And because he's overworking himself it's causing stress that everyone else can feel.

I want to be better at advocating for myself, but it just sucks to keep having to do that when you aren't really asking for much just trying to work full time at a minimum wage job which is how the position was advertised. Like I said above, times are tough for everyone, but dang dude, you gotta make your employees feel valued.
