You might see a lot of news from Bloomberg or some other financial news source talking about the economy and trying to explain away the labor shortage in one way or another as some kind of predictable macroeconomic equation.
This is a direct response to the worker reform movement. They don’t want to see it as a movement. They want to control the narrative in terms that puts shareholders at ease. It’s temporary. It’s just a few workers. It’s go away as we recover from Covid. Once the China lockdowns stop, cheap labor will be available again, growth is infinite, sunny days never end…..
I think we would all do well to remind them that this isn’t the typical market forces at work. This is a black swan event. Workers demand better lives. Workers have realized this shit is not worth their life and soul. This movement will not go away so long as people continue to realize that they’re the most valuable part of the equation.
You are essential. No amount of automation or AI will change that, not now not ever. The economy serves people. Without that, you don’t have an economy you don’t even have a functioning country. You’ll have riots and a swarming masses of highly trained people with nothing to do but plot the downfall of a system that does not benefit them. There is no threat they hold that can remove your collective power. None. That is all.
