multiple jobs

I've seen several posts about people getting fired for working 2 jobs, though sometimes it's a remote work situation. As long as the hours don't overlap, why would a company do this? I've never been in a job like this so I'm trying to wrap my head around a company's (IMHO) overreach into an employee's free time. Is it a burnout thing, or am I missing something?
