My 70yo co-worker is about to die, he never retired.

I work in a sub contractor steel structure plans drafting company and most workers are over 45 yo. Most of them plans to retire by 65yo. One of my coworker is 70yo and he is in hospital now. This weekend he passed out for undisclosed reasons. He was not really performing at job lately. He was not really “there”. My boss said we need someone that have more mental clarity. Another, about 60 yo took a 1 month break to relax because “he don't feel right”. I remember my father saying he won at life if he retires before 65yo. He won, after a life of hating his jobs, but being a hard worker. He may be the last. Personally I don't plan to retire before 75 yo. I hope to buy a trailer park for less than 200 000$ by my 40s and pays it off by 70yo. I…

Personally I don't plan to retire before 75 yo. I hope to buy a trailer park for less than 200 000$ by my 40s and pays it off by 70yo. I might enjoy retirement for a few years if I don't die before.

Is that the neoliberal dream? We are not slaves. We are not slaves. We are not slaves. We own the land. We own the country. We own our life, apparently.
It's life, you have to accept it. It's the best system. It's free market laws. There is no other option. Work makes you free. You have to earn your freedom. In this competitive world, like a gladiator in the arena, trying to impress the nobles, they might invest in you. One day, you will be able to buy your own gladiators. That's the circle of life. The spectacle needs to continue.
