My advice to survive this mess we are in today

Things in the US are bad right now. Housing prices are ridiculous. Wages are a joke. College is a big scam. My heart goes out to everyone struggling right now First and foremost pull together. While we certainly need some legislative and systemic changes but the government doesn’t give a fuck about you. Family and community is the immediate relief. Middle America needs an entire cultural shift in how it views family. This boomer nonsense about cutting your children off and kicking them out as soon as possible needs to end. It’s not economically possible right now and it’s morally wrong. A family needs to be a team during hard times. Why would you not want your child to have an easy life as possible? If you are financially struggling wouldn’t you rather split expenses with your child rather than each of you struggle to pay some shit landlord. Help…

  1. First and foremost pull together. Help your child buy a home if you can millennials would be much better off right now if they’re parents saved for buying them homes rather that blowing ridiculous amounts on college. I could practically have had a house with no mortgage for the money my parents spent on sending me to college. Multi generational living should not be looked down upon the way it is in the US. If you can’t help your child buy a home encourage them to live with you to save up.

  2. Avoid debt

Avoid debt like the plague especially student loans and credit cards. We have to stop feeding the college monster if we want it to go away. If people refuse to take out loans colleges will have to lower prices. Don’t let your children or people you love go into debt.

  1. Support self employment

Support small business over big corporations and anyone you know who Is self employed. Everyone I know who is successfully self employed is much happier then those working 9 to 5 cubicle jobs. I don’t support anti work because I think people should lay in bed all day but because human beings aren’t meant to do boring repetitive tasks all day. While not having to work is certainly the dream our world isn’t there yet. The current goal should be more people self employed pursing their talents and skills.

  1. Avoid high cost of living areas

Unless you are in field where you benefit significantly from the opportunities of a major city it’s not at all worth it. Working class people in places like miami and la are miserable. I know moving can be scary but it will be worth it for a better standard of living and a shot at owning a home. Wages for regular jobs are not much lower In lower cost of living areas.

  1. Pay attention to current events

Try to prepared for what to expect in terms of inflation or coming Lay offs. This will help you to be able to plan better.

  1. Educate others

Do not shut up about how bad things are. Let everyone know. This is not how things were 50 years ago. We can’t accept this.
