My boss is planing on firing my co-worker, how should I proceed?

If this isn’t the right sub for this please kindly tell me to fuck off so I can take the post down. 2 days ago my boss told me they are looking for 2 new ppl to recruit so I could introduce anyone I knew. One part-time position with no skills required and one full-time position with the exact skill set of the coworker in question. I was like great, I’ll look for ppl and was actually happy about getting new ppl because the workload is fucking crazy for that one coworker (and everyone else in the company honestly.) Now this conversation did not happen privately and other ppl were around. Next day I am talking to said coworker and she mentions getting a (one) new part-time coworker is gonna be great because it’s gonna be less hectic. 2 days ago my boss told me they are looking for 2 new ppl to recruit so I could introduce anyone I knew.

I was a little confused because my boss mentioned two ppl. And I specifically asked if her boss has mentioned one person to which she replied yes. I didn’t say anything then because I still wasn’t sure.
I’m pretty sure they want to fire her. She is a great responsible person who works a lot more than the money she earns.

Her boss (not my boss, my boss is her boss’ manager :)) is a very difficult person who drives away any worker after a few months. And this coworker has had no problems with it so far. Her only problem was with the workload and the little money which she basically had to fight with the CEO last month to get a raise. (She did and has received the “raised” amount this month) And from what I’m understanding they did not like this fight and are planning on letting her go.

What should I do? Should I share this knowledge with the coworker? My friends and family say I shouldn’t meddle with this and I should just let it happen. Well, she is a friend and a great person. We work in a very small mafia-like community and if she goes out with a fight, I am 100% sure the CEO won’t let her work again in this field. This isn’t right but I know she loves her work and this field. I want her to go without a fuss and with a friendly smile so she can continue in this community.

I don’t know I feel very shitty about this.
