My boss is telling my coworkers I got arrested

I’m a server. About three weeks ago, I got arrested for DUI, and my GM found out by chance. Her husband had to bail out one of his friends the same night and saw my name in the logbook at the police station. They told my boyfriend that they had learned about my situation, and I was fine with them knowing up until today, since I assumed that they wouldn’t tell anybody. My GM has been friends with my boyfriend since long before I worked for her, so I’ve hung out with her a few times outside the workplace simply because of association. My GM has been friends with my boyfriend since long before I worked for her, so I’ve hung out with her a few times outside the workplace simply because of association. For that reason, I’m the only one at my workplace who knows a bunch of secrets about her, and I’ve always kept them to myself out of respect.

But today was my day off, and my best work friend texted me to ask if I was telling people about my DUI, and the reason she was asking was because the GM was telling people. I was blown away by this information—I thought for sure my GM would know that the situation was so serious that she should definitely not be gossiping about it. I was especially pissed because I had kept so many secrets for her in the past.

I went into the restaurant later to get a drink and a snack, and I asked one of my coworkers if the GM had told her anything about me that she probably shouldn’t have, and she told me point blank that the GM had told her about my DUI.

What should I do? Is it even legal for her to tell my coworkers? I think I’m going to confront her in private tomorrow.
