We had an internal report at our organization reveal that our turnover rate is 12% higher than sector average (nonprofit) and a vast majority of our staff have been there for less than a year. My boss asked me if I saw the report and I did; I asked her what she though of it and she said she couldn’t understand why the turnover was so high since people used to apply to work here a lot. Later, when telling me about someone who started a position but then resigned after two weeks (not uncommon), I asked her why everyone keeps resigning (I wanted to test her reaction on this). She angrily responded it because no one likes to work. No people just don’t want to work here 🤦️
