Antiwork

My bosses won’t train me because I don’t want to work for them forever.

I didn't expect to post here one day but I need to vent. Sorry for my broken english. I started a new job a few months ago. I was recruited when I had been working elsewhere for 3 years. Given the better salary and more interesting work, I accepted despite the fact that it was quite far from my home (between 30 and 1 hour drive depending on traffic) and the relatively heavy schedules. During the interview, they asked me if I was planning to have children soon. It was already a bad sign but I had just bought a house and I needed the money. Now jumping to this morning. My bosses call me in their office to ask me why I don't smile when I say hello in the morning. They tell me that I look “in a bad mood” when I arrive. I tell them it's just…

I tell them it's just traffic and fatigue.

They say that they are worried, because when I was on sick leave for 4 days because of a big kidney infection (after coming to work for a week despite the pain and fatigue) I was not answering instantly to their messages and calls when I needed to REST. I tell them that I slept about 15 hours a day and that I had informed them with a medical certificate from my doctor so it was normal.

They also start to blame me for not starting to work sooner (for free of course) when I arrive a little earlier at the office and that wanting to only work during the hours that are in my contract is not a good attitude.

According to them, all of this was signs that I don't want to work with them anymore. They insist, and ask me if I intend to leave. I told them that it was not my plan right know but but I plan to have a child in a few years, and the current situation will not be compatible with parental life and that I'd ultimately want to change my schedule. They categorically refuse.

So, I say that I will not be able to stay with them forever if I can't have time to raise my future children (I already don't have a lot of time to clean the house, cook and do things with my husband). They take it badly, say they are upset by this revelation. I tell them that if there is a problem with the fact that I don't plan to be there forever they can always replace me and that I can look for another job but they don't want to, say that they will think about “what to do with me”.

Two hours later I am getting ready to leave for a training course in the afternoon, they tell me that I have to stay because they will no longer train me if I plan to leave one day because they refuse to train someone who don't want to work for them until their pension. Now they no longer answer my questions and only talk to me aggressively.
But, hey, I'm not fired !
Yet ?
