My check got shorted

My company switched to a new pay system at the beginning of July with our first check from the new system being July 8th. My child had Covid over during the July 8th pay period, so I had to take a couple days of PTO. This time off was approved by my boss. However, I didn’t get paid for my PTO. I’m not the only employee who got stiffed from the pay system switch. I emailed payroll & got no response. I then emailed HR, and they apologized & said it would be fixed on the next paycheck in 2 weeks. Is this even legal? I live paycheck to paycheck & need every dime I make. Not to mention my kids are heading back to school in a few weeks & I have to pay to get them registered & get their supplies. I’m so pissed to not get my…
