So my company, which I won't be naming, has what they refer to as an accommodations and leave team (ALT for short), who we are supposed to submit our requests to. It can be for extra breaks, medical reasons, or for special office equipment. In my case, I have put in requests for the equipment as an “ergonomic accommodation” for some things because the standard equipment causes me pain. Apparently, the requests were supposed to be reviewed by my local HR, which they were unaware of, and HR has told me that they are unable to view the requests from ALT until ALT approves it. HR also says that for requests for equipment, I need medical documentation, but according to ALT, I would only need that documentation for a medical accommodation request, not an ergonomic request, which I have told HR, and they get confused and escalate it to someone else.
The biggest issue with this situation is that I filed the request in the middle of July, and not one person between ALT and HR has reached out to me about the issue, I have had to call ALT and email HR, and between the two of them, the issue has been “escalated” four times over three and a half months. HR told me two weeks ago that the issue would be escalated to the HR manager, and then nobody reached out to me for those two weeks. I emailed them today for a follow up and got a response in ten minutes, and they just escalated it to someone else, so they either didn't receive the escalation, or have been ignoring it.
I really need some help with this because none of them know what's going on and this has been going on for too long.
