My cousin got fired for having a black eye and asking to work in the back

Up until a few days ago, my cousin worked at a really nice restaurant. Her (now) ex-boyfriend punched her in the face and gave her a black eye. My cousin asked her manager if she could work in the back so that people wouldn’t keep asking about her black eye. The manager yelled at her. My cousin is already going through a really tough time with being domestically abused, and her employer basically just fired her for being injured and asking for some relief. I am really upset and I’ve left reviews on several of their pages letting them know that this isn’t okay, but I can’t do much else because my cousin lives several states away. I just wanted to vent a bit about this since my cousin is powerless and the company is siding with the manager. My cousin never got any complaints or write-ups. It’s really shitty and unfair. If anyone has any advice, I’d be happy to take some.
