I'm not exaggerating. She has to work morning, afternoon, evening and night almost everyday, and they make her work for EIGHT HOURS STRAIGHT IN EVERY SHIFT without even a break to eat. I read our local employment laws, and this is definitely illegal. They make her do hard labour even though she only applied as a cashier. Like, the kind of hard labour that men are hired to do (carrying heavy boxes and stuff).
She is also pretty much managing an entire section of the building, but only getting a cashier's pay.
I'm at a loss of what to do honestly. I tried to see if I can talk to a lawyer, but seems like here we have to hire the lawyer before talking with them, and I don't know how to go about seeking legal help for someone else. I don't have money for new jeans, let alone a lawyer. I don't have any lawyer friends or family. But I want to help her.
She said she's gonna quit after getting her salary this month, but I don't trust these scumbags to even give her a salary on time. They need to be somehow reported and pushed out of business. Should I call the police, would that be too far? They are clearly breaking the law.
