So the janitor in my building, call him jim, prides himself on doing the work of many people all by himself. He is from the south sudan and was hired as a standard janitor doing 5 8 hour shifts for minimum wage. He didn't like how “lazy” other janitors were so he made it his mission to show he could keep the building clean all by himself.
How does he do the work for 3 janitors 120 hours in 40 hours? He doesn't! His shift starts at 5 am so he shows up at midnight and works 5 hours off the clock clocks in, works his shift , clocks out and works another 3 before sleeping in his car. He does this Monday-Friday then he comes in Saturday and works another whole shift off clock!
When I started we had three janitors. When Jim started this they gave some mealy mouthed protests about what if he hurts himself. Shocker he did. He didn't say a word and they learned he was their man. They let the other two janitors go as they were no longer needed and Jim happily works 100+ hrs a week on 40 hrs pay. Management has… forgotten that this is super illegal and Jim ain't complaining.
