My director wants us to “work hard as a team”

My work has had a mass exodus of employees recently leaving us pretty short staffed. (Many other issues) It’s an emergency Veterinary hospital and it starts to become unsafe when we have too many critical pets in the hospital and not enough nurses to care for them properly. So we temporarily went on a strict “critical case” only basically meaning we only see stuff that is actively dying or in critical condition (seizures, bleeding internally, horribly ill) we did that for a month or so it really helped us nurses relax and take better care of the actual sick patients. In my head I was hoping management would hire as many nurses as possible so we could get them trained and ready for another full service Re-opening. That didn’t happen the hired 2 HR “generalists” and 2-3 nurses (we need 10-15) Imo HR people are a waste of space and…

Imo HR people are a waste of space and MONEY in a private Veterinary hospital

One Friday afternoon around 3pm our hospital director sent out an email saying we’re fully opening the doors because we’re no longer “profitable” and we all need to Work together as a team to run the hospital successfully with a bunch of bullshit “inspirational” quotes she copy/posted

No warning nothing, just one Friday opened the doors to full service everything on the shift that is the shortest staffed.

The email contained the amount of “cases” we need to see in a day to “keep the lights on” and “stay profitable”
We get absolutely shit on for 2 weeks straight seeing dogs that have been limping for months on top of dogs that are literally bleeding internally and need life saving surgery. All while being short staffed.

2 weeks later we get another hospital wide email from the director. Saying she’s back from a Costa Rica vacation and how GREAT it was to detach from work an unwind. All while none of us nurses or support staff are allowed to take time off since were so short staffed. I see another max exodus coming after the last sequence of events honestly.
