My employer cancelled my health insurance the last day I worked

I work in healthcare as a contract worker, my employer cancelled my health insurance the last day of my contract without notice and has failed to enroll me in cobra coverage. I had surgery to repair my knee and at this point I’m facing $10,000+ in medical debt because I thought I had insurance coverage. They’re dragging their feet on it and I’m damn near suicidal as I’ve been putting people in body bags for the last two years and have PTSD from it and now I’m about to be in financial ruin. Is there anyway I can sue these awful bastards? Can someone connect me with a lawyer in DC / MD?
