I work at a university, multiple buildings. Just as a reference.
One of the buildings I swear has been around since the 1800’s. Many other are falling apart and really need work, one (student center where cafeteria is) was completely flooded and had severe water damage from a broken pipe. They were long due for reconstruction and it was decided to start last year.
This was before the pandemic hit.
So I have been working at home for two years and now HR is throwing a fit about everyone working at home. Everyone has to be back this month.
So right now there’s no cafeteria for food and you have to walk across campus from the building everyone is INSISTING that they return, when before it was across the street. There’s also no parking there when there was a massive lot.
They also just shut down parking in the back of the building, which they told us in a “Welcome back” email and told everyone to park in the garage that in a good day is mostly full by 8:30.
On a huge meeting (our largest meeting rooms are attached to garage), day you have to find another place with now the two largest parking lots closed.
Oh yeah, HR has it’s own parking lot on the other side of campus, right next to the closed parking lot.
And it’s huge. And open. It’s the only one open.
Seriously, it’s insane.
EDIT: This is MOSTLY the research branch, classes went back to in person fall of this year. So classes and teachers were called back a long time ago.
