I had been hired by a staffing agency and before being hired they asked if I needed any days off for pre planned events. I have them a list of three days I needed off and they said they could work with that and hired me for an assignment. The hiring process was not great. They completely missed the first attempt at an interview and the second attempt they were half an hour late, no apology or even acknowledgement that they had missed or shown up late. I took my first day off for an eye exam that I had scheduled almost two months in advance. They called me upset telling me I can’t be missing days or showing up late (pretty ironic), I explained that we had agreed I would have that day off and reminded them of the other two. They said they would see what they could do but they might end my assignment for not being a consistent employee. I find out from the eye doctor that I might have an eye condition that left untreated could result in the permanent loss of vision and the only days I could go in were during work hours. They call me again the next day to tell me that I should be very happy that they could get me those two additional days off. I let them know that I was going to need another day off to get my eyes checked. That’s when she told me no and “No more doctors visits or appointments” or else they would end my assignment. I quit on the spot.
