My experience at US Foods

This warehouse is located in Woodburn, Oregon. It's the worst warehose job I've had and I've worked at many over the last 5 years. This is a union job, so if companies can get away with this shit, I can't imagine how far they will push it with non union. Your productivity clock started the moment you clocked in; if you stretched, went to your locker and got your equipment ready it was counting againts you. I had a coworker that arrived 20 minutes before his shift so he could get everything ready before clocking in just so he could make his numbers. You couldn't even go to the bathroom without feeling anxiety that your numbers were going down. Your productivity clock started the moment you clocked in; if you stretched, went to your locker and got your equipment ready it was counting againts you. You couldn't even go to the bathroom without feeling anxiety that your numbers were going down. As if this wasn't enough, every job I've had before had two 15 minute breaks but this one only had two 10 minute breaks. Why do the most physical jobs have the shortest fucking breaks?? I couldn't believe it was legal but unfortunately it is. The warehouse traffic was ridiculously so it made you view your coworkers as people staying on your way rather than coworkers. The phrase “you can always do better” meant “you will never be good enough”. The only way to make your productivity goal was to cut safety corners, something I wasn't willing to do. People lifting with their back and twisting because it was faster, going at excessive speed, running recklessly, etc. Every single person that had been there for a while told me the same thing: “they used to give us more time but they raised the bar because they saw what the fastest guy could do so it bacame the new standard”. I did everything right; I Instantly worked after clocking in, I only used my breaks to use the bathroom, I took every corner except safety, I was sweating while being in the cooler and still, I barely made 80 % as my record. It really hurts that you are giving everything you have and a supervisor who wouldn't last very long at the same rate as you, comes and tells you to go “a little bit faster”.
