My experience working for Sam’s Club

Hey, take out of this what you will. But I feel it needs to be shared because nothing is going to be done about it. TW sexual harassment Before anyone says anything about what I should be doing or should have done, the situation is handled. This is just me warning all you lovely people. I am a 25 y/o female. I worked for Sams Club for 9 months. The full 9 months I was there I was sexually harassed by a male employee. He would look me up and down every chance he got and continuously call me pet names. Even in front of managers he would blatantly stare at my body and not even make eye contact with me. He told me I was the most beautiful woman he's ever seen after I had met his wife multiple times in the store. He told me he cheats on…

Before anyone says anything about what I should be doing or should have done, the situation is handled.

He told me he cheats on his wife with “girls like me”. For reference this man is probably around 67 years old. He would get extremely close to me when he would say these things and inform me he always goes out of his way to make sure he sees me several times a day even if I'm just working alone. The interactions quickly got more and more uncomfortable. I soon said something about it to a couple leads and they either brushed it off or told me “that's just how he is”. Then 1 lead took me seriously and helped me out by encouraging me to write a formal statement about him and give it to the head manager. I did so and turned it in and it took quite a while to hear anything back. Soon I got to sit down with the manager and he basically told me there was so proof and this employee denied it so there wasn't much he could do. Expect it was every interaction I had with this employee where it was happening so I KNOW they saw it. I recorded that whole conversation. Nothing was done and I had to start just ignoring it. Eventually corporate stopped in and I pulled one of them aside and pleaded with them to help push this forward and they informed me they knew very little about it and my managers refused to show them my statement. At that moment the corporate woman I spoke to told me to email my statement to her immediately. Even after doing that, no one spoke to me about it, and the managers started treating me differently. This man continued to try and speak to me but I had to deal with it alone, with no help from my managers. I was also informed this was an ongoing problem with this man from other coworkers who had been there for a long time and they had to move him to outside so he wasn't around young women…
I no longer work there and I wouldn't suggest any young women work there due to how they handled my situation. To all the sexual harassment/assault victims out there, I am so sorry you had to go through it and I hope you all can heal. Take care of yourself and the people you love. Thanks for listening.
