My family is shocked that I’m not typing up a formal two week notice for my job

I’m turning in my notice at my job tomorrow. I was talking to my wife, mom, and brother today and they asked me if I had typed up my notice already. I said no; I’m going to write it in sharpie on a piece of loose leaf right before I leave for work. They all looked at me like I was crazy. For background, I worked at that job for ~5 years, then quit for a different career. Unfortunately, that career didn’t work out so 5 months after quitting my old boss actually reached out to me and offered me a LOT more money to come back, so I did. I’ve been there for 4 years at this point and I hate it. I’m burned out, overworked, and under appreciated (basically the hat trick of this subreddit). I’m giving them 7 days notice and I plan on using my PTO for one of those seven days. I already have another job lined up; one with better pay and MUCH better benefits. All my old job would’ve had to do was pay me better. I was already doing the job of three people because we couldn’t find anyone to fill the other two slots on my shift. Now I’m leaving and my team lead will be doing the job of three people. Companies want employee retention, but aren’t willing to do what it takes to retain employees.
Hence 6 day notice on a piece of loose leaf
