I still couldn't believe it. My dad has to pay $14,000 for the bike accident even with insurance, and now he has to pay even more because of me.
I went to the ER back in April due to severe acid reflux, and stayed there for approximately 3~4 hrs. Blood work was taken, I was given pepcid and a painkiller, and I had on an IV drip for 2 hrs. The doctor pressed my stomach using his fingers to detect any irregularities (fortunately to which there are none). I sat in a wheelchair for only an hour because of how terrible the pain was. We drove ourselves to the hospital, no ambulance called.
It was between 12 AM to 3 AM—there weren't all that many people, except for a few who had emergencies, but there are more staff than patients. When we got home, they sent us the bill: **$9,000**
Today, they contacted us again and said that in fact, our final bill was actually **$18,730**.
We couldn't figure out how on earth everything together would cost beyond a *quarter* of that. My parents are furious. I am, too. I'm furious and guilty about something I couldn't control and now the Good Samaritan Hospital is robbing my parents of their hard-earned money.
