My fiancé just graduated college and got a pretty great job in her field. She was hired through an internship she did with the same company and they liked her enough to extend a full offer.
With her being an intern, she and the other interns all started a group chat during their internship to support each other and whatnot.
Now most of them have been extended an offer of full employment and my fiancé stays in regular contact with the other interns. She said their group chat has now turned into them discussing each other’s contract to make sure they were all getting what they should be.
When she told me this I go “sounds like your unionizing if you’re basically negotiating your contracts together as a group and you’re using the power of collective bargaining to get what you want”.
She took a second and went “yeah basically”.
Not gonna lie, kinda proud that she naturally helped attempt to organize her coworkers. She isn’t into politics or leftism as much as I am (however the SC decisions have been making her pay more attention), but I’m glad she is starting her career without taking bullshit.
Hope this becomes more common in later generations.
