I work in a factory making potato chips, and our Collective Bargaining Agreement contract has expired, so the union and the company are currently negotiating a new one. Usually in negotiations, the union reps do all the talking and actual negotiating with the company reps, but there also needs to be a few workers present and apparently they just sit there and listen and take notes, but also suggest which topics are the most important to negotiate over, like wages or vacations or benefits etc. Anyways my co-worker who is a shop steward at the plant, can't make it to the negotiations and asked me to take her place.
I'm excited to go to this meeting for a few reasons. First, it's better than actual work LOL I don't mind sitting in a nice conference room and getting paid the same. But second, I'm also looking forward to seeing how these negotiations work and to also see my plant manager get put in the hot seat for once.
Personally, I want a 5% raise minimum annually to offset inflation at the very least. I don't really want anything else other than money this time around, because I'm fine with our vacation structure, of course our benefits could always be better but I guess they're good enough. For this contract, I want money. Cold, hard cash (well, direct deposit at least eh)
So I'll be doing that next week, wish me luck guys LOL
