Antiwork

My first job, I applied for one position, interviewed for another right near it, and was finally hired for something totally different. I was fired after three months, for not being inside too much.

This was back in 2012. I applied at Walmart for the electronics department because movies and video games were my main knowledge specialty thing… I got an interview and was told I could work in the pet department. No big deal, I thought, Pets is right next to Electronics and if there's nothing to do in the pet department, I could see if Electronics needs help. The next day I got the call that I'd been hired. Started orientation and found out I'd be working as a Stockman (cart retriever). I didn't make a big deal out of it cuz it was my first job and I didn't think it would do any good. So, I spent the next three months working, putting carts away, bringing out TVs, helping customers with their groceries. Occasionally, there'd be no carts to bring in so I'd head inside to help in other departments.…

By the end of the three months, management let me go for being inside too much (this was April-June), even though I only went in to go on my breaks, use the restroom (not very often), or help in other departments.
