My Gf works for R5000 a month that $274. Rent for a bachelors flat costs about R4000 which is $219.
That's just sick. Her boss makes R100k a month ($5499) the business make 3 times that.
When a co-worker got sick and had to stay home for an ENTIRE month my gf worked he ASS off to keep work up to date. She's a admin clerk at a book keeping office.
She decided to ask for a raise to get her salary up to R10k ($549,92) which is STILL below median (Entry lvl median is R12k ($659) and median is R14k($769))
She mentioned that she was able to do more work, and the medians and then the fact that we can barely keep our household alive (we don't even have student debt and it's a struggle)
Her boss has the audacity to say that if she wants that much she can quit because she will NEVER pay her that much.
Thing is from town gossip her boss literally can't have my gf quit because she's so integral to the business if she ups and leaves tomorrow the card house will fall flat.
She also told my gf she's being lazy if she was able to do 2 people's work. Her boss doesn't give a shit about her mental health or anything about her workers for that matter. She ended up getting a raise to R6500 ($357) a month which is something but still sick.
She's looking for new work rn.
