More of a rant honestly, and using mobile so sorry for any typos.
My (f25) husband (m25) is a maintenance supervisor at an apartment complex.
He started cause an old coworker was working the same company just in the office and got him an interview. They loved him, had him working fast as a regular tech. However his sup at the time, did absolutely fuck all and all got pushed onto my husband from the start.
When the old supervisor left they promised him talking all kinds of things of making sure he got help and yadda yadda right?
No. This man has gone over 3 months on call, going into work every single day. Literally. Not exaggerating at all.
Damn near since then his health, physical and mental, has been deteriorating badly and corporate just keeps piling more shit andshit on top if him. He refuses to stop because “no one else will do it and it's all on him in corps eyes”
Literally just got told to stay down for 3 days and not pick shit up from the doctor for pulling a muscle at work where is he, the days after the doc told him that? At work. Attempting to fix a fucking SINK on a Saturday because they can't be bothered to actually get this man real help.
And guess where he'll be tomorrow? At work. Cleaning the fucking pool.
And the next day? And the next day over and over again even when they tell him it's his day off? He's fucking at work. He's answering calls for work. He's rushing and bending over backwards breaking his spine to go to work.
We DO unfortunately need the job. It's high paying and in our state where housing is ridiculous, and mine isn't any where near being able to cover our rent payments alone like his.
But I'm at my wits end watching this man come home deteriorating from the inside out. We've been getting into small arguments cause he's tired of hearing me tell him not to kill himself over that place.
Honestly, you trade workers deserve the biggest fucking props ever when it comes to under appreciated labors. Maintenance men, plumbers, HVAC, etc, all yall deal with so much bullshit it's not even fucking funny.
Don't be mean to the workers. Trust me, it's fucking corporate not your Maintenance team at least 75% of the time. The things this man has ranted to me about would fill up too much with BS Corp pulls
