I am an intern in a group home. Sometimes staff will take the clients on outings. I don't drive, and my internship ends mid-August. The organization knows this, and it is not negotiable. It's also totally doable, because the clients only really go places on certain days and I just don't work the hours that they need to go places. One of the meetings people are supposed to attend is an “off site orientation”, which is basically driving protocol and how to behave in public with clients. It is four hours long, for whatever fucking reason. I called them and asked why I was being asked to attend as this is not a part of my job and never will be, and they said “ooh, yeah, that's a tough one, unfortunately you're going to have to attend, because that's what everyone else does.”
