my job is trying to take away unpaid pto

As of right now we can take off as many days as we want, even if we do not have pto. We just have to submit the request 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule. Now they're saying if we request a day off without having pto we get a write up. WTF. It's not my fault they don't have any staff
