My job wants a doctors note to call out for a cold

Hi reddit, been a lurker on anti-work for awhile, and created a throw away as I just need advise today. Using a throwaway account. TLDR. Caught a cold, called out of work, my adviser who I called said I need a doctors note or I get written up. So I'll start by saying that my place of employment has a policy that if you are still within the 90 days of hire you cannot call out without a doctors note or you risk getting a write up and a meeting with your supervisor. I hadn't known of this policy until I called work this morning. I called out this morning because I had caught a cold yesterday, which still lingered into today, and I thought getting one more day of rest would get it to go away faster. Mind out we also have a policy that you have to call…

Mind out we also have a policy that you have to call out of work 2 hours before your shift. I work at 8am. No one would be in until 7am to take my call.

So why not get a doctors note from a walk in clinic? Well unfortunately I had received an injury a few months ago that has already costed me a ton in medical bills, and I don't know if getting a doctors note from a walk-in is going to cost me as well.

So my options are spend the day looking for a doctor who can giving me a note for the common cold, instead of resting. Or rest for today and prepare to walk into a meeting tomorrow where they'll chew me out for needing one extra day off in my week.

I hate this too because I already have guilt from calling out of work, and this situation has only made it much worse. I just wanted to get this off my chest, and maybe get some advice about what to do.
