I work at goodwill. When I first joined in January people stalking me around the store wasn't a huge problem, but now it's something I have to deal with every shift for up to over half of it.
It's always the same few people. Following me around the entire fucking store to get to my cart of donations I'm supposed to be putting on the shelf.
I've told my managers I'm uncomfortable, I've told them that I'm tired of coming to work constantly paranoid. They don't seem to understand that I'm not able to do my job if people are constantly following me around the store, sifting through my carts like animals.
They told me to just deal with it. That that's what happens when you “have a service job.”
This is not a service job. It's a fucking goodwill. We are retail. We aren't servicing customers, we're selling shit. This isn't a restaurant.
The thing is too, the customers used to not even be allowed to touch the carts in the first place, so this is all bullshit.
They talk about how “understaffed” they are here, and how much “they need me,” and I just want to quit out of spite to make things even worse for them
If things are so bad, you think they'd be more willing to keep the employees from feeling this uncomfortable in the workplace, but I guess not.
I'm so fucking angry right now for this shit
