I work part time as a cake decorator at a grocery store. This is my second job. When I was at the interview, they told me that I'll be working 20-25 hours a week which is perfect for me. During December one of my coworkers got sick and I ended up working full time for nearly one month. They would constantly ask me to come in on my days off. It's highly encouraged to stay late, come early and skip breaks for free, because the system does not allow you to punch in early or late. My co worker is pregnant and she left for maternity leave one week ago, now it's just me and my manager doing cakes. Last week I overheard her complaining to someone that my other co worker doesn't want to come in on her day off because “she doesn't have kids or family she should be thankful we give her more hours”.
We also have a policy that they're allowed to change the schedule without notice 24 hours before my shift which is very hard and I end up checking my schedule twice a day. I can't even make doctors appointment because I have to submit request for a day off 14 days in advance and I can't just book it this Thursday which is supposed to be my day off because they might put me on that day later on.
I'm currently looking for a new job because this is absolutely insane and it's driving me crazy
