I work for Lowes. Last week they gave me my second yearly raise of 13¢ bringing me to $15/hr. When my manager showed me we were with another coworker and we were asking our manager how much he got paid and if he was salary or hourly and he said hourly but wouldn’t give us a number. The other employee said something to the effect of, “I bet you make like $30/hr” and he said if he got paid $30 an hour he would barely come to work and wouldn’t care what you guys do here. And laughed. It rubbed me the wrong way especially cause our manager doesn’t really do much except read the daily email for our tasks and then divvy them out to us and walk around the building. Then he pulled me aside away from the other employee and said that I should be grateful for getting $15/hr and that me and one other on the team are the only ones making that much and I said that doesn’t make me feel better. I’m just tired of slaving away for crumbs. It’s bullshit. And I’m tired of it.
