My manager keeps claiming that the policy my job has dictates we cannot discuss our wages

And she keeps saying that 'it's a policy, it's different' even though I'm pretty dang sure that it's STILL illegal….I live in TN by the way. So what do I say to her the next time this may be brought up? It was only brought up because I had asked the assistant manager 'oh how much do you make?' but he rightfully was dodging the question. She piped up saying we weren't allowed to discuss it because it could make other managers jealous that they don't make as much as other managers within the company. I tried to argue that they couldn't do that, but she pressed on that 'it's a policy, it's different' and so I dropped the discussion. I want to inform her that it is in fact ILLEGAL to have such a policy and that we are free to discuss our wages if we are comfortable. What…
