I work overnights at a Planet Fitness location in NJ, making less than $14 an hour. I am the only employee on shift during overnights, being alone from 10pm to 6am.
I requested a day off for monday night, and i submitted the request using my sick time on the night of wednesday. the next day, my boss had texted me saying that she found coverage for my shift, but if i were to request off in the future it would have to be 2 weeks in advance, even if using my sick time.
Is this possible? Allowed? And even if it is, what the fuck.
I’m the only worker and it shouldn’t be at my expense if they’re understaffed and i need a day off. I have a great attendance and any days off needed I request ahead of time, am never early to my shift, and i work a fucking 8 hour shift alone so i don’t know how i’m supposed to take a break during my shift.
Fuck planet fitness dude. They treat their workers terribly.
