So, I work at Chic fil a, and we get $8 per shift to spend on food ( assuming we aren't a second late clocking in ), which in the past was fine, but since they raised the prices on everything $8 no longer goes as far as it once did.
Lately, I've been getting two chicken sandwiches with my employee meal, because I can't afford a lot right now so I use them as my two meals for the day, and I have just been covering the leftover change with my debit card.
Today, my manager told me that he doesn't allow people anymore to pay for something so little with a card due to the fees he has to pay. I might be able to sympathize with that if he hadn't been rolling up in a brand new BMW for the past few weeks. Or if he would raise our $8 allowance, but he's been “looking into it” for quite some time now.
Since I dont carry cash or change, he was going to remove one of the sandwiches, but one of the highschool students, that was working there for the summer, ended up spotting me $1 to cover it.
So in conclusion, I feel shame for having to take money from that student, as well as not having the courage to say to him in front of the manager something along the lines of, “you shouldn't have to pay for our managers greed”.
