My Mom is Like an r/antiwork Nightmare Made Real

I only recently got ahold of my.mental health and my physical health enough to take a job. My mom drives me back and forth to work, so she hears alot about my day as it's obvious conversation fodder for the ride, and my God some of her opinions. Tried to insist I couldn't take a day off of work when I had a migraine so bad I couldn't even really keep my eyes open. Even though I had already sent notice more than the required five hours in advance. Tried to insist I'd be fired for leaving ten minutes early even though my relief was already there to replace me. And then today, where she somehow thinks it's my job to remind my boss of things I'd already cleared with him a week in advance. I have a medical appointment at 8:30 today, I usually get off work at 8…

I only recently got ahold of my.mental health and my physical health enough to take a job. My mom drives me back and forth to work, so she hears alot about my day as it's obvious conversation fodder for the ride, and my God some of her opinions.

  1. Tried to insist I couldn't take a day off of work when I had a migraine so bad I couldn't even really keep my eyes open. Even though I had already sent notice more than the required five hours in advance.

  2. Tried to insist I'd be fired for leaving ten minutes early even though my relief was already there to replace me.

  3. And then today, where she somehow thinks it's my job to remind my boss of things I'd already cleared with him a week in advance. I have a medical appointment at 8:30 today, I usually get off work at 8 but it's a 45+ minute drive to the appointment, so I needed to get off earlier than usual and got the boss' okay for that. I even made sure to not only clear this over text with him, gave him my appointment slip with the time, abd yet somehow it's my fault for not reminding him again when I didn't have a relief to let me go (a coworker was nice and took over my remaining shift but I have WORDS for my boss tbh)

  4. And just a minor one. But she doesn't believe in sick days period. Like, she tried to say a migraine wasn't good enough, I had to have covid or bronchitis or whatever in order to call off. (This woman is a college educated teacher, self employed, not some Amazon worker!)

My boss has been fine with all the 'issues' she's insisted there have been, no writeups or even talks, minus #3 of course but idc at this point because going in at all today was a favor when I could have called off given this is a medical issue.
