For context, a while back her old boss went out of town to work at the main headquarters. The old boss appointed one of her coworkers and everything went downhill from there. The new boss let the power go to her head and my mom would come home and vent to me about stuff.
New Boss didn’t like it when people would be late after coming back from lunch, but she would go out with her closest co worker friends and be out of the office for more than 2 hours. When it was my moms birthday she got taken out to lunch by coworkers for a little over an hour. Thats when New Boss decides to be very petty, and come off very passive aggressive.
My mom never went to HR bc she felt like she would get retaliation from her boss. A week ago she decided she had enough and put her 2 weeks in, but yesterday her boss and supervisor had ordered her to go to HR and then be out the building. Right after that a new person who had previously quit that job before, came back and was rehired. This person is also a sister of a current employee and their first day of work is today, the day after my mom was fired.
My mom felt threatened and humiliated and all her coworkers are pissed right now, they’ve talked about starting a complaint box and have even planned a walk out in protest. My mom is worried bc she applied for a job but can’t start until December or early January. Also bc she got fired early and doesn’t know if they’re using her vacation time for the rest of the week.
I feel very upset for her bc she’s worked her ass off there since I was a little kid. This job has caused her a lot of stress to the point where she had a miscarriage. This new boss let this power go to her head and treats everyone but her work friends like shit. It’s unfair treatment, idk if my mom is able to report that in her exit interview. She said she was going to contact our states workforce commission but Idk if anything can even be done about it.
I just wanted to vent about it here, hopefully get some advice for what my mom could do. She’s thinking about filing for unemployment bc she currently has no job until at the end of the year. She can’t find anything else.
