my mom was told shes being fired for asking for LOA before she could file for FMLA

I've been depressed and have other mental illnesses. I finally was doing well enough in life to get and hold a job for a while. I worked there for about a year and a half and had to quit in January because my mental state was getting worse from dealing with abusive customers. I was eventually made full time order fulfillment opener at home depot and had to be there by 5am and the store opened at 6. I had to make sure all the deliveries were set to go out that day were ready and properly palletized. After loading the trucks I was supposed to pull orders for delivery and in store pick ups. I would answer phone calls and deal with customers who called or came in with questions about their orders. It's no surprise that no one goes to home depot at 6am in a good mood.…

I would answer phone calls and deal with customers who called or came in with questions about their orders. It's no surprise that no one goes to home depot at 6am in a good mood. It was contractors who forgot stuff or had something go wrong on a job site and people who had something break in their house and needed stuff right then. I recently started ECT for my mental health. I have to go to the hospital 3 times a week for shock therapy and my mom is driving me because anesthesia and a bunch of other reasons. She called her office today to ask about LOA so she doesn't have to keep calling out and her boss (who is a great guy and wasn't involved in the decision) gave her the heads up that the firm decided to fire her. I don't think she'll have time to file for fmla because I think they already pulled the trigger on firing her. She's worked there almost 20 years and other people at that firm don't even work when they're there but they are physically there. They'll play on Facebook or just bullshit with each other by the copier but somehow my mom is getting fired for helping me not kill myself. Capitalism is great, huh?
