My new boss is great but at the same time not

I can't complain too much since he got all of us long overdue raises and is a good guy but he's a bit…narcissistic? As in he knows best because he has way more experience in the field. Which is all well and good except he thinks he knows best when sometimes his plans make no sense. I work as a maintenance worker at a golf course and then way we mowed teeboxes before he came along was sent out two people to pick up all the tees and move them off the teeboxes and as soon as first light happened two people went out, one to mow and the other to put tees back, and all 70+ teeboxes (yes there are really that many here) would be done in roughly two hours. Well he changed it. Two people on mowers are sent out and they pick up the tees, mow…

Two people on mowers are sent out and they pick up the tees, mow the teebox, then put them back. It went from two hours to four hours at the least. But oh no no no he knows best so that's how we do them.

But my current issue is we got a few new machines and he swears we'll love the new greens mowers because they work great. Meanwhile I absolutely despise everything about their existence (except the cup holder) and we are actually slower using those than the old ones. He swears we'll learn to love them but I'm over here thinking “I'll learn how to use them”

And the other is a replacement for the machine I used to run. My mower was literally falling apart (no help from new boss who told me to quit greasing it so much even though the book said 50 hours) so they got one similar to my old one. Except my old one used two levers to control everything except where I was turning.

This one has foot pedals.

He once again says I'll learn to love it even though I already know I'm going to hate it and slide dozens of times and no doubt have a few places I literally can't mow anymore. With the levers I was able to feel every single minute change and if my machine resisted me or not, so I knew when I had to slow down and be careful. It is literally the only way I was able to do some of the shit I did.

But now I'm stuck with a fucking foot pedal running a machine nobody else has run yet being told “Yeah you can totally do everything you did the way you did before”

Meanwhile I was literally the ONLY PERSON who ran my old machine.

So my boss is essentially telling me I can do everything I did before with a machine similar to my old one (not even from the sane company) using different controls that allow me to feel less than I did before all the while never really knowing how I ran my old one in the first place. Let alone to do the hard, more dangerous areas.

I'm livid but keeping quiet. I'm stuck running it with a stupid touchy foot pedal in my clunky ass boots that weigh at least 5 lbs on their own. I'm half tempted to offer to buy the adapter to control it with a lever myself even though it costs a few thousand dollars.
