My new employer does not provide lunches or breaks. “You clock in, you work 12 hours, you clock out.” “If this isn’t what you’re looking for I get that, it’s long, hard days.” I resigned from a decent paying job to start working here.. I feel so utterly robbed!

As the title states I recently started a new job. I resigned from my previous job when I received the offer letter from this company. I knew from the interview it would be long days, 12 hours every day and some Saturdays. It’s tough but the OT is very good money…

Well, I’m two days into this new job. I worked a ten hour day yesterday and a twelve hour day today. I didn’t get any breaks or lunches – a clear violation of CA labor laws. When I confronted the owner today about lunch and breaks I was essentially told “this isn’t that kind of job” and as the title says “you clock in, you work 12 hours, you clock out.”

Now I’m in this shitty position where I’m not okay with being exploited this way but I’ve already resigned from my previous job and wouldn’t be able to get it back.

Fuck these companies pulling this bullshit, exploiting employees and just thinking they can get away with it. Well whenever I figure out what I’m going to do for another job I will be reporting this company to the CA labor commissioner’s bureau of field enforcement AND the US department of Labor.

This company will pay for fucking with my life and well-being.
