I work in a COVID lab and there have been a lot of issues the past few weeks, from my time card being falsified in an attempt to not pay OT, to management insisting that OT is only after 80hrs/2wks and cutting hours to compensate for OT, and now they're trying to say we have to clock out if they need us to drive somewhere while we are at work, so they aren't liable and that way we would be forced to make up our hours. Corporate just fixes shit and sweeps it under the rug.
Recently, my shift was changed from 7am-3pm to 5pm-130am(despite informing management I can't bc buses don't run that late) so it was changed to 230pm-11pm. I specifically started at this job because I would be working 7am-3pm. I'm disabled and this schedule is necessary in accommodating my disabilities. I have ADHD, cPTSD, and DID. I take medications that have now have to be taken at different times in order to accomodate the schedule change.
My body chemistry is off, and I'm already experiencing the effects of this shift change. My baseline cortisol levels are innately lower early in the morning and morning shifts are necessary for my Mental health because of this.
I can't take my ADHD meds until later in the day now, so my stimulation levels are absolutely thru the roof. I can't take my anti psychotic medicine until 5 hours after I normally would, and as a result I am left vomiting and experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms. They are sedative so I can't take them until Im home after midnight. I'm struggling immensely with this, and nobody will tell me when my schedule can go back to normal. I can't do it anymore tho, it's so unhealthy.
This job doesn't care too much about labor laws, as can be seen with the consistent violations they try to be slick about. They said they changed my schedule to “accomodate our workflow” but two other people are still on days.
With a note from a doctor, would switching me back to my original shift qualify under reasonable accommodations? I literally feel so sick, mentally and physically, and they care so little about labor laws idk what I'd be able to get them to do.
