He’s a registered Republican and has had his face eaten by the capitalist leopards but he’s learning to help others see what’s really going on. One time he was gripping about how insurance is tied to employment and it’s so convoluted that a work injury may or may not be covered if you bought the correct work insurance. He was helping a guy that couldn’t read English well that got injured on a job site and realized how fucked it all is.
It had been a while since we talked about it but recently he told me he heavily suggested to all the roughnecks that they should be demanding safer working conditions together and the company should be reimbursing them more money for their safety gear. You bet their ears perked up at that. They’re the type to screech at the U word but if they’re collectively getting together for the workers benefit it sounds like a win to me!
