I apologize in advance if this breaks any rules or gets offtrack but it seemed like an appropriate subreddit.
I closed last night as the shooting took place. It's still hard to process that it took place in a similar setting so close to my work. I think what shook me the most is management didn't say a word. There was no briefing, no extra security called in until we closed, just business as usual. If anyone mentioned it we were told to change the subject immediately. I didn't even know it happened until I heard customer's talking about it. There was no concern of a second shooter targeting another location. Nothing. It was just Saturday as usual, let's hit that $400,000 sales for the day. Today it's business as usual. No extra security, no elevated concern or active shooter briefings, nothing.
Buffalo's Eastside gets a bad wrap at times, but nobody deserved this. I've lived/been through a lot of cities, but none really compare to Buffalo's vibe. The people here are generally good people. The sports, the food, the festivals, concerts, it's all a different level of energy. Nobody expected someone to come from 3 hours away and tear a hole in our city.
You'd think with all the tension today management or corporate would try to look out for the safety and mental concerns of their employees.
