My wife worked from her hospital bed the day after our child was born.

Due to short parental leave benefits in our workplace, and the fact my wife didn’t qualify for FMLA due to only being her position for 11 months. Our child was born extremely prematurely and is in the NICU so we can’t use what vacation and sick time we have built up since it’ll ideally supplement our parental leave. So my wife, not wanting to lose what time we had, was working from the hospital bed a day after giving a c-section birth. She can’t even get short-term disability since she’s on my insurance and apparently short-term disability doesn’t apply to my benefits. She can still apply but it would take 90 days for her application to process, and she would have to use all her sick time in the process. Greatest country my ass.
