So I work for the State Gov and have been in the same job for about 5 years. Recently I was suddenly transferred to another shop and my schedule has gone from me being to able to pick up my kids at a reasonable time to now being unable to pick them up at all. My wife works evenings so this is a really difficult position they put me in despite knowing my parental obligations. I’ve voiced my situation with my management and have gotten no accommodation. Is there labor laws about this or something I can do? I’m looking for a new job ASAP, but a state agency shouldn’t be able to torpedo your career by making you unable to care for your kids. This is also in Arizona.
TLDR; Typical boomer boss moved me to a impossible position because I resent his bullying of over employees. Now I can’t get my kids on time from the babysitter.
Edit: I’m also in college doing evening classes, which they know, and thier scheduling will force me to drop out of school. So basically a targeted rescheduling of my work plan to ruin my life.
