Narcisstic supervisor – please help

Hello, I think I'm writing this because I'm stuck otherwise. I've been working for a company for a while and since 1,5 years I'm in a new project and I have a new team there as well. Hello,

I think I'm writing this because I'm stuck otherwise.

I've been working for a company for a while and since 1,5 years I'm in a new project and I have a new team there as well. We all have the same supervisor and although I've been working here for a while, this is the first time I've worked with these people.

The team is quite ok, some negative people and some immature people. But most of them are nice and that is what is important to me.

One person on this team is the one that gives me problems. She and I have the same supervisor, but in this project or team she is unofficially the supervisor of the rest of us. I don't know what to do anymore.

I think she is a narcissist (my mother is one and I recognize something like that immediately). She loves power games.

If you ask her how she is, she doesn't ask back. She is also very inattentive and very impatient. But the real problems started some time ago when I told her that I didn't want to do a certain task X anymore.

I have a high position in my company, but this project requires me to do tasks that do not fit my job profile. And this also often led to me working overtime. Everyone else seems to be already used to working like slaves and doing whatever this one person asks them to do. I fought back, though. Told this person that I wanted to take on high level tasks. I got my tasks, but from then on, chaos broke out.

First, she started asking me last in our daily meetings (usually I am always the 3rd to be asked). Then she often let loose indirect sayings aimed in my direction. Then one meeting with her almost degenerated once and she said that I was planning to take her job away.

She is manipulative and rude. She's also not professional at all: she's yelled at a lot of people in the company on some impulse. She often sits in the open office and loudly talks trash about random people (everyone can hear her). And she also talks trash about our mutual supervisor. It seems to me that she wants to make him look bad in order to topple him from his position.

Now it has gotten to the point where I interpret every action she takes. I am downright scared if anything comes from her direction. I know this is not good, but I don't know what to do. My husband has also told me to just ignore her, but I have a hard time doing that when anything comes from her all the time. My husband also said that she is probably jealous of me and sees me as a threat. Honestly, I think that too because she has shown and said many times that she thinks I want to steal her position.

I don't want to change companies because I like it a lot. But this person is really making my life difficult. But maybe it's all in my head and I'm over-interpreting her actions and seeing something negative or an attack in everything.

It's hard to convince other people of this because very skillfully attacked me. It's her punishment for me fighting back. She probably just wants to keep me down.

Sorry if this is all written so confusingly. At this point, I just don't know what to do anymore.

I hope you guys can help me. Or at least understand me.

Thank you.
