National internet outage? We don’t want to pay you.

A little while ago a major company here in Canada had an outage that left millions without phone or internet for the day. I just spoke to my mom, a health care worker who works from home and needs both to do her job, and she told me that her company sent out an email stating that anyone who was impacted by the outage can either take it as a holiday or they simply won’t be paid for that days work. She’s a salaried employee and in a union.
