Need advice: former company keeping my last paycheck.

Reposting because I didn’t get much help from my previous post. I worked for this company for years as a traveling manager helping out multiple locations, my car recently died and due to not having reliable transportation anymore the owner fired me. I was halfway through the pay period so I should be getting half of a normal paycheck. I previously had a pay advance to help me with previous issues that I was paying back through my paychecks, now the owner is keeping my last paycheck because “I owe him”. I’m pretty broke right now just recently starting my new job and I really needed that last check. Do I have any ground to demand that paycheck, or legally are they allowed to keep that due to my previous pay advance? Thanks for any help.
